Looking for a vacation rental for a week or weekend for friends or relatives? Lost River is quickly becoming a sought-after vacation rental destination on websites such as www.homeaway.com and www.vrbo.com, increasing the potential for tourism in our wonderful Lost River Valley. Complementing the existing lodging options, cabins such as the Lost River Cabin, Farmhouse Cottage, Farmhouse Escape and the Lost River Mountaintop Retreat have expanded the ability of Lost River to accommodate and welcome new guests to our community.

Vacationers at Lost River State Park may choose from among 26 cabins for overnight accommodations. Of these, eleven are comfortably furnished deluxe cabins of modern design with wood-paneled walls and forced air furnaces.The remaining 15 are standard cabins of log construction (pictured). All of the cabins feature a natural stone, wood burning fireplace; baths with showers; and fully equipped kitchens with modern appliances, built-in cabinets, cooking utensils and tableware. Towels, dishcloths, blankets, and bed linens are also provided. Cots and cribs are available at a nominal fee and may be reserved in advance to avoid a handling fee.
The modern cabins at Lost River are Open Year round. The standard cabins open the last weekend in April and close the fourth Monday in October. Check in time is 4 p.m. and check-out time is 10 a.m. Dogs and cats are permitted in a limited number of cabins, call for reservations with pets.
Trout Pond Recreation Area boasts two beautiful lakes: Rock Cliff Lake and Trout Pond. Relax on a sandy mountain beach or fish for stocked trout while kids splash in the cool waters of Rock Cliff Lake. Trout Pond, home to native Brook trout, is the only natural lake in West Virginia. A designated swimming area, easy lakeside trails, and a children’s playground make this a perfect family destination.
Campsites come with a campfire ring and picnic table, and some of have electric hookups. Hot showers and flush toilets are an easy walk away from each site. The day-use area includes a white-sand swim beach, boat ramp, showers, playground and 30 picnic sites.
Lost River Campground is the ideal place for a family vacation, hunter or fisherman’s stay. The campground is great for those who want to rough it.
However, a bath house with full water and electric is available for those who like modern facilities. There are sites for both tents and RVs.
