A project of Friends of Lost River Valley
Founded in 1988 in Lost River, West Virginia. In the past 20 years, it has grown to nearly 100 active members who work to preserve heritage arts and crafts, as well as teach the public about the value of handmade objects. Many examples of their artisans’ work are available for purchase in our marketing center, located in the renovated 150-year-old Harper Barn in Lost River.
As a destination in the Lost River Valley, the “country modern” Lost River General Store was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. Today, the original floors and counters display merchandise that would have been sold in the late 1800’s but with a contemporary panache and flair that celebrate and change with the seasons.
The park gift shop showcases West Virginia art and crafts as well as West Virginia food items such as honey, maple syrup and jellies and jams. The gift area is located at the Administration Building.
